Popular Specializations of Fine Arts & Fashion Studies
There will be an element of cross over when it comes to a fine arts course but by and large there will be an area of specialization and as a result of the one you choose, it can determine the career you have.
Drawing – this can allow you to find your particular area of expertise and make a living out of drawing this item. It could be portraits or fruit, and in some cases it could even be abstract. With live subjects to draw and a lot of technical details to follow it is not just a matter of committing pencil to paper.
Pottery – pottery items will be used as either a practical item for the home – it could be a vase or a fruit bowl, or just a smaller item that is an ornament. Old techniques will meet new and the entire course will cover making the pot, firing it and painting it,
Fashion Design – there will always be more people who want to follow this career than places available and there are concerns that there will be very few that make it big but a lot want to succeed. Fabric use is going to be important and this knowledge could be carried over to print production or sculpting.
Sculpture – modern and traditional sculpture will be taught and the big decision could be whether or not you want to provide work such as the Angel of the North, or more compact ones that will fit in people’s houses.
Painting – while this can sometimes be linked with drawing, there are artists who do not produce conventional works and so imagination is more important.
