Transcripts, GMAT, Essay, Interviews, Recommendation letters. What is the most important out of the list? There are various reasons why any B school rejects a students. Having a perfect GMAT and GPA will not guarantee admission into Top Business Schools.
Every part of your application process will take its weight into your selection. Your work experience or Recommendation Letters can complement your low GMAT scores or low GPA. Better scores will help your application to be considered, but they are not the whole and sole reason, you will get accepted.
Top B Schools look for the whole package, so don’t let your low scores be reason for not applying to the top B schools. Strong essay, recommendation letters, work experience, and the type of work you do will help compliment your low scores. But high scores will not compliment, poorly written essays, negative recommendations or bad work experience.
Essay is the part of application where you will make the selecting committee understand who you are. It is the only opportunity to fully elaborate about your true self. You can explain your goals, passions, experiences, and how B school can help you grow.
Understand your weak and strong points. Use them to compliment your application. Work Experience and a well written essay will take you further because those are the once that will explain you as an individual to the selection committee. They explain your weakness and elaborate your strengths.
Interviews are sometimes conducted over the phone, face to face, over Skype or other online medium. So you will have to ready to tackle any type of a person.
Having a strong Recommendation letters will take you a long way. Find the people who have knowledge about MBA or writing a proper recommendation. Getting recommendation from people who have no experience in writing will not help you.
